Teddy loves dried apple rings. Having heard about a girl who made a birthday cake for her dog (meat and veg, taste-tested by herself), I was feeling a little guilty. So, I dipped into Dinner for Dogs, a book about home-cooked food for dogs by founder of Lily’s Kitchen, Henrietta Morrison. I thought I’d kick-off with dried apple rings because if Teddy doesn’t like them, the rest of the family will. What a hit! The added bonus is that Morrison’s recipe is fabulously simple. Peel and core some un-bruised apples, slice them into rings and lay them on a baking sheet for up to 6 hours in the oven (160C/gas 3/325F) until leathery. Et voila!
